This realisation resonated strongly with Monica Godfrey, the founder of Legacy Journeys, as her son entered Year 11 and her daughter began Year 8. The understanding that their close-knit family of four had an expiration date compelled Monica to orchestrate one last extraordinary family holiday—an epic adventure that would create lifelong memories and strengthen bonds.
The Godfrey family has always embraced a love for travel, exploring international wonders prior to the pandemic and discovering the beauty of Australia during the COVID era. Their final grand finale was a four-week journey encompassing the UAE, Italy, and the Czech Republic—an unforgettable family experience now fondly remembered as the “Great Godfrey Getaway.”
Monica’s vision for Legacy Journeys encapsulates the spirit of that transformative trip. The company’s mission is to assist other families (especially those with teenagers) in crafting their own legacies through shared experiences and cherished memories. About The Founder
Hello! I’m Monica, the intrepid explorer and passionate founder of Legacy Journeys. My enchantment with the world of travel was kindled in my early teenage years, a spark lit by my father who would take me along on his business trips during school breaks. These opportunities to venture into new cities and experience unfamiliar cultures became the foundation of our shared bonding experiences, ones filled with discoveries, laughter, and enduring memories we continue to treasure today.
Post-university, I delved into a career in Fleet Management sales, but the allure of travel eventually drew me away. Three years later, I found myself in Prague, drawn in by its timeless charm, and it was here that I recognised my calling in the travel industry.
Over the past two decades, I’ve immersed myself in the multifaceted travel industry, experiencing roles in wholesale, corporate head offices, and even launching my own storefront retail travel agency. This journey has equipped me with a unique skill set, from effective communication and organisational abilities to networking, enabling me to thrive within this dynamic industry.
My professional and personal journey has led me to combine my passion for travel with my commitment to helping families create enduring memories. Drawing from my cherished experiences traveling with my father, I’m committed to helping families, design their own unforgettable adventures.
